LAX Festival: See Asunción in a Workshop Performance

Don't Miss San Cha's workshop performance of ASUNCIÓN — presented by Los Angeles Performance Practice — on October 19.

ASUNCIÓN is a groundbreaking opera co-created by McCall Cadenas and renowned Latinx musician San Cha, inspired by San Cha’s celebrated 2020 album La Luz de la Esperanza. This captivating workshop offers a sneak peek into the upcoming opera, premiering in July 2024, courtesy of Long Beach Opera.

The opera challenges traditional cisgender and heteronormative telenovela archetypes, introducing Dolores, a woman who breaks free from the control of her wealthy husband, Salvador, with the help of Esperanza. The narrative unfolds against a live soundtrack, seamlessly blending Mariachi, punk, classical music, and electro, celebrating the liberating power of ascendant relationships.

Tickets are available for this unique showcase starting at $24.00.
