Virginia Douglas Bio

Currently pursuing her Master of Music at the University of California, Los Angeles, she studies under Juliana Gondek. In her first year at UCLA, Virginia performed the title role in Dido and Aeneas (2023), appeared as Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) and Alice Ford (Falstaff) in Opera UCLA’s Winter Scenes Program (2024), and premiered the role of Maria Maladetto in the world premiere of Richard Danielpour’s The Grand Hotel Tartarus (2024). 

A dedicated advocate for new music, Virginia has been actively involved in premiering contemporary works. In addition to premiering the role of Maria Maladetto, she spent consecutive summers at the Mostly Modern Festival in Saratoga Springs, where she premiered compositions by resident composers and starred in a new staging of Robert Paterson’s In Real Life. She has also been a featured performer at the Wintergreen Festival, premiering works by student composers in both virtual and in-person settings
